Radical St Pancras – a guided walk with Richard Cotton

With the possible exception of the East End, no area of London has a richer radical tradition than Camden – at various times home to Gandhi, Bolivar, Marx, Engels, Lenin, Marie Stopes, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson and many other notables and where George Bernard Shaw was a councillor. This walk focuses on one small part of the borough, an area that has been shaped by the growth of the railways to this day. An area that always welcomed new blood from all over the world and that incubated struggles for better housing and health care, workers’ education, feminism and many other social reforms.

This walk will be led by Richard Cotton, a Labour Councillor and a qualified Camden Tour Guide. It is for a private party of six people, starts at the British Library and takes approximately two hours.

A tour of the Royal Courts of Justice and the Inns of Court with renowned human rights lawyer Richard Hermer QC

The world famous Royal Courts of Justice is reminiscent of a cathedral in both style and scale. Soaring arches and beautiful stained glass windows ornamented with the coats of arms of Lord Chancellors and keepers of the Great Seal, combined with a mosaic marble floor leading to a maze of enchanting corridors to create a majestic setting or exciting visit to one of London’s best kept secrets.

Richard Hermer is a ‘renowned practitioner in the field who is regularly called upon to handle the most significant, high-profile human rights and civil liberties cases in the UK.’ This tour is for two or three people.
